About Us

Our Story, Our Purpose

Bridge Institute of Information Technology (BIT) is a forward-looking, knowledge-driven institution established in 2019 to accelerate social and economic transformation through innovative access to and application of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Strategically located in Fort Portal Tourism City, BIT serves the Ruwenzori sub-region and beyond, positioning itself as a regional hub for digital empowerment and practical ICT education.

The institute is committed to designing technology-driven solutions that address critical service sectors including health, housing, food systems, education, transportation, employment, and entertainment

A socio-economically transformed society driven by digitalization and knowledge based services.

To invest sufficient institutional and technical ICT capacity that meets the demands of the population, including school going students, post-school interested trainees, working professionals, local governments, and business enterprises by June 2021-2026.

To promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and human capital development by offering informatics skills, consultancy, and related business solutions in Uganda, Eastern Africa and beyond.

  • To establish an ICT business Incubation and Innovation Hub, that provides relevant solutions to emerging social, economic, and environmental challenges by 2025.
  • To design and deploy an aggressive business development/marketing model that permeates all potential clients to take up partnerships, services, and products of BIIT by 2024.
  • To build/secure permanent physical premises that provide a secure and conducive skills-building environment by 2026.
  • To make BIIT the best ICT Center of excellence and a provider of any institutional hardware and software requirements in the region by 2030.
